The West London Area Group of the 'G'Scale Society covers roughly London W postcodes plus West Middlesex. The boundaries are loosely defined so as to encourage maximum participation. Members from other areas are welcome to take part in our activities, and we sometimes take part in theirs. There are currently 20 Area Groups covering the whole country, but new ones can be established where there are sufficient active members.

We organise as many visits to garden lines as members are willing to invite us to, usually in the Summer months, and we can offer advice and assistance to those in the process of building a line. Photos of some of these lines can be found on our 'Slide Show' page. 2-rail electric power is the norm, but in most cases live steam operation also features. Participants are encouraged to bring their own stock to run, and the atmosphere can be described as relaxing. Please not that while the 'G' Scale Society has Public Liability insurance for these meetings, responsibility for rolling stock remains with the individual owner, who may wish to take out appropriate insurance.

Currently there are two indoor layouts in our area. Greenford 81C MRC's Trumpers Halt is a 16 x 8 ft double track circuit with loops, while the Buckinghamshire Garden Railway Society's Whiteleaf is a massive 66 x 18 ft at its maximum extent. It is modular, so it can be reduced in size the fit the space available. Both these layouts can be seen at various exhibitions.
